Bob Odenkirk collapses on ‘Higher Name Saul’ set

LOS ANGELES – Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk collapsed on the set of the show in New Mexico on Tuesday and was hospitalized.

Crew members called an ambulance that took the 58-year-old actor to a hospital where he stayed Tuesday night, a person near Odenkirk who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter told The Associated Press.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the breakdown or how long Odenkirk could be hospitalized.

Better Call Saul, the spin-off prequel of Breaking Bad, has shot its sixth and final season, which will air next year on AMC.

Like Breaking Bad, “Better Call Saul” is set and filmed primarily in Albuquerque.

An email to an AMC representative asking for more information or comments was not immediately returned.

Odenkirk was nominated for four Emmys for playing the title character, a bad luck attorney named Jimmy McGill, who is becoming increasingly corrupt and who takes the pseudonym Saul Goodman.

Michael McKean, Odenkirk’s co-star who played his brother on the show, was among many who wished Odenkirk well on social media.

“Sending great love to our @mrbobodenkirk,” McKean tweeted. “You did, brother.”

Odenkirk’s hospital stay was first reported by TMZ.

Before the “Saul” role, which he also played in “Breaking Bad”, Odenkirk was mainly due to “Mr. Show With Bob and David, ”the sketch comedy series he co-developed with David Cross and originally aired on HBO from 1995 to 1998.

He has won two Emmys for his contributions to “The Ben Stiller Show” and “Saturday Night Live”.

He also appeared on HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show and in the films The Post, Little Women and Nobody.
